One year ago from today on April 20th, 2012, we released Atlantics Vol. 2 - a sprawling collection of tracks by talented friends and artists from around the world. This year, we asked a completely different group of fresh faces to contribute, and the result is something special.

Not nearly as ambitious in scope as the previous installment (although pretty damn close) Volume 3 is a more concise and understated compilation, but no less engaging by any means.

Spanning genres as disparate as hi-fi footwork and grainy new wave, it is another diverse and soulful collection of tunes that is sure to have something for everyone. Hopefully in addition to recognizing familiar names, you are also able to discover new talent, as showcasing the underground is something we continually strive to accomplish.

Una nuova connessione globale unisce gli Stati Uniti all’Italia: Diaspora Mixtape Volume 2 – A Global Mixtape MovementIl mondo in un disco: ecco cosa potrebbe essere in sintesi “Diaspora Mixtape Vol.2”, un progetto da Guinness dei Primati cha racchiude oltre cinquanta artisti hip-hop da tutto il mondo. Dopo il successo del primo capitolo, la Nomadic Wax – etichetta indipendente americana specializzata in urban music globale – ha scelto l’Italia per dare origine al tappeto musicale che ha unito oltre quaranta nazioni: le cinque basi strumentali su cui si sono esibiti tutti i rappers sono opera di Dj Nio, Lowrence e Roggy Luciano, produttori del Basement UnderGround Studio di Genova, che ancora una volta si conferma uno dei siti più importanti dell’Hip-Hop italiano.Il secondo capitolo di “Diaspora Mixtape” prodotto dalla Nomadic Wax Records rappresenta qualcosa che il mercato globale non ha mai conosciuto prima d’ora. Come nel caso di “Diaspora Mixtape Vol.2”, in cui il turntablist filippino Dj Boo (Juggaknots, Eternia) ha mixato assieme artisti provenienti da tutti i continenti del pianeta terra (solo per citare alcuni Paesi oltre agli Stati Uniti e l’Italia rappresentata da Zero Plastica, la Cina, l’Argentina, il Canada, Haiti, la Tunisia, la Norvegia, ecc.).Questa mixtape rappresenta idealmente l’evoluzione globale della leggendaria serie “Power Cypha: 50 MCs” di Tony Touch, dj portoric-americano che negli anni ‘90 usava raccogliere attorno a sè i migliori rappers per farli cantare su famose strumentali; nel caso di “Diaspora Mixtape Vol.2”, l’obbiettivo è quello di mostrare come l’Hip-Hop si sia diffuso in tutto il mondo e come sia diventato un canale di comunicazione e di scambio interculturale.“Questo tipo di collaborazioni globali sono estremamente importanti perchuè mostrano il lato più rivoluzionario della Cultura Hip-Hop” – sostiene Dj Nio, produttore esecutivo e manager del progetto – “è come se mettessero attorno ad un tavolo i rappresentanti delle Nazioni Unite: anche se hanno diversi background, idee e religioni, l’Hip-Hop li unisce assieme come una lingua universale senza barriere.
